How to save a Pinterest image at full resolution

Updated 2026-10-02

When you long-press and save a Pin on Pinterest you usually get a small copy. The full-size file is a different URL on Pinterest's own servers — and the tool has to ask for it by name. Here is what is actually going on and how to get the big one.

The same Pin is stored many times over

A Pin is not one image. Pinterest keeps several renditions of each upload — commonly a 236-pixel-wide thumbnail, a 474 and a 564-pixel version, and then one tagged originals that holds the file as it was uploaded.

What you see in the feed is not what is stored. The feed asks for the small rendition because it is fast to draw. Nothing about the Pin's page tells the browser that a bigger one exists.

How to get the largest file

Open the Pin in Pinterest and copy its address — the one that looks like pinterest.com/pin/… or a pin.it/… short link.

Paste it into the box on this site and fetch the Pin. Every size Pinterest holds appears as its own card, ordered small to large.

1
Copy the Pin linkOpen the Pin itself, not the board or the profile — this tool reads single Pins.
2
Paste it and fetchThe result area lists each image size the Pin really has, with its pixel dimensions measured from the actual file.
3
Take the card marked “Largest available”That is normally the original upload. Press Download on that card.
Some cards are labelled measured and some declared. Measured sizes were read from the file itself; declared sizes come from Pinterest's own metadata and can be wrong. When the two disagree, trust the measured one.

The largest size is sometimes genuinely small

If a Pin was only ever saved to Pinterest as a small image, the small image is the best that exists anywhere. The card labels show the real measured pixels, so a Pin whose biggest rendition is 564 pixels says so rather than promising you an original that was never there.

No tool can invent resolution that Pinterest does not hold. If you see a small number, that is the truth about that Pin, not a fault in the download.

The file keeps its real format

A downloaded image arrives as JPG, PNG or WEBP — whichever Pinterest stores for that Pin. The format is not rewritten and the file is not renamed to .jpg. If you searched for a way to save a Pinterest image and got a file your editor would not open, the format is usually the reason.

Frequently asked questions

Which image size should I download?

Cards are ordered small to large. “Largest available” is normally the file as it was uploaded. If a Pin only ever had a small rendition, that small size is truly the best that exists.

Why is the pixel size different from what Pinterest shows?

Pinterest's metadata occasionally declares a size that does not match the file. This tool measures the actual file and marks those cards “measured”, so a declared size is never presented as a fact.

Can I download a whole board at once?

No. Boards, profiles and private Pins are not supported — the tool reads one Pin at a time. If you paste a board link it will tell you so rather than failing quietly.

Paste a public Pinterest Pin link and see every file behind it — each image size with its measured pixels, and videos as real MP4 files.
